Commit 1aa60a95bd broke microcode loading for chipsets that have a
microcode blob with a total_size field set to 0. This appears to be
support for older chipsets, where the size was set to 0 and assumed to
be 2048 bytes. The fix is to change the result of the subtraction to a
signed type, and ensure the following comparison is done without
promoting the signed type to an unsigned one.

Microcode header supports advertising support for only one CPU
signature and processor flags. If there are multiple processor
families supported by this microcode blob, they are mentioned in
the extended signature table.
Add support to parse the extended processor signature table to
determine if the microcode blob supports the currently running CPU.

in the extended signature table of a microcode patch. Was able to
match and load the patch appropriately.

CB:49896 added support in `intel_microcode_find()` to cache the found
microcode for faster subsequent accesses. This works okay when the
function succeeds in finding the microcode on BSP. However, if for any
reason, `cpu_microcode_blob.bin` does not contain a valid microcode
for the given processor, then the logic ends up attempting to find
microcode again and again every time it is called (because
`ucode_updates` is set to NULL on failed find, thus retriggering the
whole find sequence every time). This leads to a weird race condition
when multiple APs are running in parallel and executing this
function.
A snippet of the issues observed in the scenario described above:

1. AP reports that microcode update is being skipped since the current
version matches the version in CBFS (even though there is no matching
microcode update in CBFS).
2. AP reports microcode header is corrupted because it thinks that the
data size reported in the microcode is larger than the file read from
CBFS.
Above issues occur because each time an AP calls
`intel_microcode_find()`, it might end up seeing some intermittent
state of `ucode_updates` and taking incorrect action.
This change fixes this race condition by separating the logic for
finding microcode into an internal function `find_cbfs_microcode()`
and maintaining the caching logic in `intel_microcode_find()` using a
boolean flag `microcode_checked`.

attempts to find microcode from CBFS if it failed the first time.

For arch/x86 the realmode part has to be located within the same 64
KiB as the reset vector. Some older intel platforms also require 4 KiB
alignment for _start16bit.
To enforce the above, and to separate required parts of .text without
matching *(.text.*) rules in linker scripts, tag the pre-C environment
assembly code with section .init directive.
Description of .init section for ELF:
This section holds executable instructions that contribute to the
process initialization code. When a program starts to run, the
system arranges to execute the code in this section before calling the
main program entry point (called main for C programs).

This patch renames cbfs_boot_map_with_leak() and cbfs_boot_load_file()
to cbfs_map() and cbfs_load() respectively. This is supposed to be the
start of a new, better organized CBFS API where the most common
operations have the most simple and straight-forward names. Less
commonly used variants of these operations (e.g. cbfs_ro_load() or
cbfs_region_load()) can be introduced later. It seems unnecessary to
keep carrying around "boot" in the names of most CBFS APIs if the vast
majority of accesses go to the boot CBFS (instead, more unusual
operations should have longer names that describe how they diverge from
the common ones).
cbfs_map() is paired with a new cbfs_unmap() to allow callers to cleanly
reap mappings when desired. A few new cbfs_unmap() calls are added to
generic code where it makes sense, but it seems unnecessary to introduce
this everywhere in platform or architecture specific code where the boot
medium is known to be memory-mapped anyway. In fact, even for
non-memory-mapped platforms, sometimes leaking a mapping to the CBFS
cache is a much cleaner solution than jumping through hoops to provide
some other storage for some long-lived file object, and it shouldn't be
outright forbidden when it makes sense.
Additionally, remove the type arguments from these function signatures.
The goal is to eventually remove type arguments for lookup from the
whole CBFS API. Filenames already uniquely identify CBFS files. The type
field is just informational, and there should be APIs to allow callers
to check it when desired, but it's not clear what we gain from forcing
this as a parameter into every single CBFS access when the vast majority
of the time it provides no additional value and is just clutter.

The option to specify a binary file name was added later for platforms
that do not provide microcode updates in our blobs repository. Alas,
it wasn't visible what platforms these are. And if you specified a file
for a platform that already had one, they were all included together.
Make it visible which platforms don't provide binaries with the new con-
figs MICROCODE_BLOB_NOT_IN_BLOB_REPO, MICROCODE_BLOB_NOT_HOOKED_UP and
MICROCODE_BLOB_UNDISCLOSED. Based on that we can decide if we want to
include binaries by default or explicitly show that no files are inclu-
ded (default to CPU_MICROCODE_CBFS_NONE).
Also split CPU_MICROCODE_CBFS_GENERATE into the more explicit
CPU_MICROCODE_CBFS_DEFAULT_BINS and CPU_MICROCODE_CBFS_EXTERNAL_BINS.
And clean up the visibility of options: Don't show CBFS related options
on platforms that don't support it and don't show external file options
if the platform uses special rules for multiple files (CPU_MICROCODE_
MULTIPLE_FILES).

Its spreading copies got out of sync. And as it is not a standard header
but used in commonlib code, it belongs into commonlib. While we are at
it, always include it via GCC's `-include` switch.
Some Windows and BSD quirk handling went into the util copies. We always
guard from redefinitions now to prevent further issues.

Add 4 helper functions to get microcode info.
* get_current_microcode_rev
return the the version of the currently running microcode.
* get_microcode_rev
extract microcode revision from the given patch.
* get_microcode_size
extract microcode size from the given patch.
* get_microcode_checksum
extract checksum from the given patch.
The simpler thing would be to just move the struct microcode
to microcode.h so that the structure members can be dereferenced.
To encapsulate the structure details added the helper functions.
This information will be used in future to compare microcodes for update.

Hardcoding the microcode filenames into the makefiles is great when
the microcode is in the blobs directory. When the microcode isn't
posted to the blobs directory, we need some method of supplying the
microcode binary into the build. This can of course be done manually
after the build has completed, as can be done with everything that
we're including in the ROM image. Instead of making life hard for
everyone though, let's just add a way to specify where the microcode
rom comes from.

The previous usage of the intel microcode support supported using
the library under ROMCC and ramstage. Allow for microcode support
to be used in normal C-based romstage as well by:
1. Only using walkcbfs when ROMCC is defined.
2. Only using spinlocks if !__PRE_RAM__
The header file now unconditionally exposes the declarations
of the supporting functions.

It encourages users from writing to the FSF without giving an address.

Some Intel SoCs which support SGX feature, report the
microcode patch revision one less than the actual revision.
This results in the same microcode patch getting loaded again.
Add a SoC specific check to avoid reloading the same patch.

A new CBFS API is introduced to allow making CBFS access
easier for providing multiple CBFS sources. That is achieved
by decoupling the cbfs source from a CBFS file. A CBFS
source is described by a descriptor. It contains the necessary
properties for walking a CBFS to locate a file. The CBFS
file is then decoupled from the CBFS descriptor in that it's
no longer needed to access the contents of the file.
All of this is accomplished using the regions infrastructure
by repsenting CBFS sources and files as region_devices. Because
region_devices can be chained together forming subregions this
allows one to decouple a CBFS source from a file. This also allows
one to provide CBFS files that came from other sources for
payload and/or stage loading.
The program loading takes advantage of those very properties
by allowing multiple sources for locating a program. Because of
this we can reduce the overhead of loading programs because
it's all done in the common code paths. Only locating the
program is per source.

As per discussion with lawyers[tm], it's not a good idea to
shorten the license header too much - not for legal reasons
but because there are tools that look for them, and giving
them a standard pattern simplifies things.
However, we got confirmation that we don't have to update
every file ever added to coreboot whenever the FSF gets a
new lease, but can drop the address instead.
util/kconfig is excluded because that's imported code that
we may want to synchronize every now and then.

Now that we use the microcode updates in the blobs repository, remove
them from the main repo. Since the microcode updates are blobs, it
makes more sense to ship them in the blobs repo rather than the main
one.
The update-microcodes.sh script is also deleted, as a more current
version resides in 3rdparty.

When not building with CONFIG_SSE there are not enough
registers for ROMCC to use for spilling. The previous
changes to this file had too many local variables that
needed to be tracked -- thus causing romcc compilation
issues.

The sequence to inject microcode updates is virtually the same for all
Intel CPUs. The same function is used to inject the update in both CBFS
and hardcoded cases, and in both of these cases, the microcode resides in
the ROM. This should be a safe change across the board.
The function which loaded compiled-in microcode is also removed here in
order to prevent it from being used in the future.
The dummy terminators from microcode need to be removed if this change is
to work when generating microcode from several microcode_blob.c files, as
is the case for older socketed CPUs. Removal of dummy terminators is done
in a subsequent patch.

Up until now, a dummy terminator was required for CBFS microcode files.
This was a coreboot only requirement in order to terminate the loop which
searches for updates.
Figure out where the microcode file ends, and exit the loop if we pass the
end of the CBFS without finding any updates.

CPU_MICROCODE_IN_CBFS was designed to mean that loading microcode updates
from a CBFS file is supported, however, the name implies that microcode is
present in CBFS. This has recently caused confusion both with contributions
from Google, as well as SAGE. Rename this option to
SUPPORT_CPU_UCODE_IN_CBFS in order to make it clearer that what is meant is
"hey, the code we have for this CPU supports loading microcode updates from
CBFS", and prevent further confusion.

Add a safety check in function `intel_update_microcode` to return when
accidentally `NULL` is passed as `microcode_updates`, which would lead
to a null pointer dereference later on.

The review of this patch had some more discussion on adding more
comments and more detailed error messages. But this should be done in
a separate patch.
For clarity here some history, on how this was found and what caused
the discussion and confusion.
Originally when Vladimir made this improvement, selecting
`CPU_MICROCODE_IN_CBFS` in Kconfig but not having the microcode blob
`cpu_microcode_blob.bin` in CBFS resulted in a null pointer dereference
later on causing a crash.

Vladimir fixed this by returning if `microcode_updates` is `NULL`,
that means no file is found and successfully tested this on his
Lenovo X201.
When pushing the patch to Gerrit for review, the code was rewritten
though by Aaron in commit »intel microcode: split up microcode loading
stages« (98ffb426) [1], which also returns when no file is found. So
the other parts of the code were checked and the safety check as
described above is added.

This patch only applies to CONFIG_MICROCODE_IN_CBFS. The intel microcode
update routine would always walk the CBFS for the microcode file. Then
it would loop through the whole file looking for a match then load the
microcode. This process was maintained for intel_update_microcode_from_cbfs(),
however 2 new functions were exported:
1. const void *intel_microcode_find(void)
2. void intel_microcode_load_unlocked(const void *microcode_patch)
The first locates a matching microcode while the second loads that
mircocode. These new functions can then be used to cache the found
microcode blob w/o having to re-walk the CBFS.
Booted baskingridge board to Linux and noted that all microcode
revisions match on all the CPUs.
